Getting Started

A first session will be sort of a 50 minute overview, a chance to begin turning all the puzzle pieces over and get the big picture of what’s going on in your life and with your struggles. You will probably experience your therapist offering you some different ways of looking at your life right off the bat, but also, you will have the opportunity to begin a process wherein you can begin learning and growing to make your life different. You can decide with your doctor how long you want to continue therapy and how often you want to meet. We typically meet with our clients about once a week. Weekly therapy works kind of like beginning a workout program, where you get stronger and more fit every week. We find that emotional and relational change takes place gradually and through growth… kind of like fertilizing a plant doesn’t have an immediate effect, but it ultimately helps produce richer fruit.
